金沢の玄関口である金沢駅は、日本で唯一選ばれた「世界で最も美しい駅」です。
雨や雪などの降水量が多い金沢では、東広場には金沢を訪れる人に差し出す雨傘をイメージし、おもてなしの心を表わした、もてなしドーム」というガラスのドームがあります。また、正面に構える、伝統芸能に使われる鼓をイメージした「鼓門」は、迫力があり、夜には幻想的なライトアップがされています。金沢駅では、駅内にも石川県の伝統的な九谷焼や輪島塗などといった、美術館にいるような様々な仕掛けがあります。また、「あんと」「Rinto」といった「金沢百番街」では、豊富なお土産や洋服などがありますので、ショッピングを楽しむこともできます。

The “Entryway to Kanazawa,” and the only train station in Japan selected among the World’s Most Beautiful Train Stations. The area just outside the station’s east gate is covered by the glass Motenashi Dome (“hospitality dome”), which often serves as an “umbrella” in this rainy, snowy city — a sign of Kanazawa’s hospitality toward visitors. Just beyond the Motenashi Dome, you’ll find Tsuzumi-mon Gate, with a design based on the hand drums used in traditional performing arts. This gate is also lit up at night, giving it an even more dramatic presence. The inside of the station is just as impressive, with the pillars in the main concourse decorated with traditional crafts from Ishikawa Prefecture, like Kutani Ware ceramics and Wajima Lacquerware. The Anto, Rinto, and Kanazawa Hyakubangai shopping areas attached to the station also offer a wide variety of items, from souvenirs to clothing and much more.
